The Clinical Research Center was established at the institute in March 2020. It was founded with funding from BIRAC (Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council), an initiative of the Government of India. The first project undertaken was the "Clinical Trial Network for Hospital-Based Trial in Diabetes," which involved establishing a hospital-based multicentric Diabetes Registry. The grant for the project enabled the purchase of all the necessary infrastructure and equipment for the CRC. Initially intended to last 3 years, the project has been extended as a longitudinal study. Additionally, the centre is currently conducting several other ongoing clinical research projects.

Objectives

1. To facilitate interdisciplinary, collaborative research and training in clinical research which is ethical and responsible for better patient outcomes.
2. To provide scientists the infrastructure necessary for the efficient and productive conduct of high-Quality clinical research and trials.
3. To provide conducive environment where researchers, undergraduates, postgraduates and clinicians can work together on projects that are relevant and fundamentally important.
4. To generate awareness of clinical research as a speciality, its scope and potential.
5. To establish a forum for exchange of learning and imparting training to new entrants to the field.
6. To facilitate growth of clinical research by monitoring clinical research activity, provide review and consultation facilities for research projects and making representation to government and other agencies.
7. To promote, develop and improve scientific exchange of knowledge as well as technical co-operation between various research institutions and bodies.
